Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is a type of mental illness that involves recurring, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and/or repetitive behaviors or routines (compulsions). These obsessions and compulsions can interfere with daily life and cause significant distress. Treatment for OCD may include therapy, medication, or a combination of both.

OCD

Some common signs of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) include excessive and persistent thoughts, images, or urges that cause anxiety, as well as repetitive behaviors or mental acts that are performed in response to these intrusive thoughts. For example, a person with OCD might have an obsession with germs and cleanliness, and ritualistically wash their hands many times during the day. Other symptoms of OCD can include repeating specific words or phrases in one’s mind, or repeatedly checking locks, appliances, or other objects to ensure that they are turned off or locked.
